Jury's Evaluation

The high cost of the new photovoltaic device was a major challenge because of its complex structure. However, the discovery of structural similarities with liquid crystal panels led to the joint development by solar cell and liquid crystal panel engineers. As a result, about 90% of the manufacturing process could be shared with existing liquid crystal plant facilities, thereby reducing the cost to 1/5 and improving the power generation performance. The process of innovation creation is remarkable because of the company culture where technologies are shared and engineers closely collaborate with each other. What's more, this project has resulted in the rebirth of an old LCD factory, which is nothing short of dramatic.
